Maths trick for subtraction

There is a easy way to subtract a number from the numbers that are of the format 100, 10000, etc.  How to go about it, the rule is as follows

Rule: Subtract all the digits by 9 except last. The last has to subtracted by 10

For example:  Subtract  456 from 1000. You can do it mentally as

Do like this

1. 9 – first digit (4) = 5

2. 9 – second digit (5) = 4

3. 10 – last digit = 4

The answer is 544, to check if it is correct add 456 + 544 = 1000
