A painter wants to paints the wall. He know that 4 units of blue with 3 units of red he gets Purple color and by mixing 3 units of blue with 4 units of red he gets indigo color, if has 28 ltrs of purple color and wants to change it to Indigo how many lts of Red color he should mix with purple color?
Question 1 Explanation:
for Purple color mix. is in ratio of 4:3 for blue and red, in 28 lts he has 16 lts of blue and 12 lts of Red. For Indigo he needs mix. in ratio of 3:4 for blue and red. If he is going to add X lts of red in purple color will in new mix Red will 12 + x lts and Blue will be unchanged at 16 lts, since new color is Indigo and the proportion is 3:4 solve the equation
(16/12+x) = 3/4 ans is 28/3
There are 2 sugar syrups, 1st one has 20 % sugar and 2nd one has 40% sugar, how many ltrs of 2nd syrup should be mixed with 5 lts of 1st syrup to make a sugar syrup of 30 % strength?
Question 2 Explanation:
If a lts of 2nd syrup is added to 5 lts of 1st syrup the sugar content in new mixture will be (0.4 x a)+ (0.2 x 5), the new syrup has (5 +x ) lts with 30 % conc . so 0.4x + 1 = 0.3(5 +x) , x = 5 lts
Suppose ram has 2 set of glasses, first one with 3 cup capacity and second one with 6 cup capacity. Ram wants to distribute 4 cups of tea in such a fashion that the glasses looks equally filled when served, so he plans to pour in the glasses in such as way that both the glasses are filled in equal fractions of their capacity, How many cups of tea he should pour in each glass.

Question 3 Explanation:
Let say Ram pours x cup in glass 1 and y cup in glass 2. Then glass 1 is x/3 filled and glass 2 is y/6 full. Since both fractions are equal then x/3 = y/6 or 2x =y we also know x + y = 4 , x = 4/3, y = 8/3
A milk can of 20 lts capacity is full with milk, milkman removes 2 ltr of milk and replace with water and he does it for 4 times, how much milk is presnet in the new mixture?

A herbal medicine is made with 1 unit of honey, 5 units of lemon and 20 units of water for children. For adult the same medicine is formulated as being 5 times stronger than as compared to child medicine and water being half of child medicine. If the adult medicine bottle has 3 ml of lemon juice how much water does it contains?
Question 5 Explanation:
The child medicine proportion on 1:5:20 for honey, lemon and water. In adult medicine honey lemon ratio is 5:5 and honey water ration as 1:10, so adult medicine ratio is 1:1:10 and lemon is 3 ml, clearly water is 30 ml
In a chemistry lab student is given a 10 lts of solution of chemical with 40% concentration, he boils the solution that 2 lts of water evaporates from the solution. Then to this solution he adds 2 lts more of same solution with 40% conc, what is new concentration of the chemical.
Question 6 Explanation:
In 10 lts of 40 % concentration, there is 4lts of chemical and 6 lts of water. After evaporation we have 4 lts of chemical and 4 lts of water. The 2 lts solution added has 0.8 lts of chemical and 1.2 lts of water. So new mixture has 4.8 Lts of chemical and 5.2 lts of water. hence the conc. is 48%
